Writer

Tom Taylor

Once a professional juggler and fire eater, Tom Taylor is now a multi-award-winning playwright whose comedy, drama and musical works have been produced across four continents (it’s hard to get a gig in Antarctica).  However, theatre, like crime, doesn’t pay.

Fortunately, Tom has found his way into writing TV, film, radio, magazines and, his favourite medium, comics.

As well as busily writing ‘Brief Cases‘ (A book that will change lives), Taylor is currently the writer of Star Wars: Invasion, an ongoing series for Dark Horse Comics with illustrator Colin Wilson. Star Wars: Invasion #0 was nominated for a ‘Diamond Gem Award’ in the ‘2009 Comic Book of the Year Over $3.00′ category.

Tom has also been announced as the new writer of the DC/Wildstorm flagship title, The Authority.

February saw the release of Taylor’s graphic novella, Star Wars Adventures: Luke Skywalker and the Treasure of the Dragonsnakes, which shows a never before seen story of Luke Skywalker training with Yoda on Dagobah during The Empire Strikes Back. Taylor has also penned Star Wars Adventures: The Will of Darth Vader, which is set to appear in August 2010. Randy Stradley, Dark Horse Vice President, says Tom Taylor has taken to writing comics faster than anyone he’s ever seen.

Taylor’s other comics work includes the adaptation of his award-winning play The Example (with illustration by Colin Wilson) through Gestalt Publishing.

Gestalt Publishing have also published Taylor’s Rombies (with art by Skye Ogden) and a Rombies series is planned for 2010. As well as publishing two of his stories, White Dove III and 96000m in their Flinch anthology, Gestalt are also set to publish Taylor’s new creator-owned series, The Deep – which dives into the adventures of a multicultural family of underwater explorers who live on a submarine.

Taylor’s animated TV series Alien Dave is currently in development with MIA productions.  His award-winning short musical A4 2 A3 (written with Simon Barlow) was filmed by Bravada Films in 2009, for which Taylor also wrote the screenplay.  It is set to premiere in April 2010 at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California.

Tom writes so much that sometimes he goes a bit numb…
