Writer
Tom Taylor
Once a professional juggler and fire eater, Tom Taylor is now a multi-award-winning playwright whose comedy, drama and musical works have been produced across four continents (it’s hard to get a gig in Antarctica). However, theatre, like crime, doesn’t pay.
Fortunately, Tom has found his way into writing TV, film, radio, magazines and, his favourite medium, comics.
As well as busily writing ‘Brief Cases‘ (A book that will change lives), Taylor is currently the writer of the ongoing Star Wars: Invasion series (with all-round genius, Colin Wilson) and the new Star Wars: Blood Ties series for Dark Horse comics and Lucasfilm. Star Wars: Invasion #0 was nominated for a ‘Diamond Gem Award’ in the ‘2009 Comic Book of the Year Over $3.00′ category.
He is also the writer of the DC comics/Wildstorm flagship title, The Authority.
In addition to these, he is working on his creator-owned books The Deep and Rombies (a Roman Zombies book – Friends, Romans lend me your brains) all with Gestalt Publishing.
Tom’s other comic book works include the adaptation of his award-winning play The Example (with illustration by Colin Wilson) and the Star Wars Adventures Graphic Novellas The Will of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and the Treasure of the Dragonsnakes, which shows a never-before-seen story of Luke Skywalker training with Yoda on Dagobah during The Empire Strikes Back.
Dark Horse Vice President, Randy Stradley, says Tom Taylor has taken to writing comics faster than anyone he’s ever seen.
His short musical A4 2 A3 (written with Simon Barlow) was filmed by Bravada Films and premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California in 2010. The Example has also been optioned.
He is currently working on several other film, television, children’s books and comic book projects, but if he told you about these you’d have to disappear… so don’t ask.
Tom writes so much that sometimes he goes a bit numb…
